Typical barn style merges with a modern concept of a family-friendly living space.

The city centre of Empoli is not even a kilometre away, yet the hustle and bustle of the city seems light years away. Surrounded by the countryside, where the aroma of nature, its colours, and its sounds are sharper and stronger, there is an old barn transformed into a three-storey house. The outside view calls for meditation, while the inside winks at modernity and the needs of a family.

Ideas of living

For the 150 square metres of interior space, the family chose Boschi di Fiemme and its essence Titanio, with a knotty and brushed finish. With a textured rippled surface, this oak creates colour uniformity through the play of grey and brown hues, with slight tone variations due solely to natural oxidation.

The wood goes from the floor to the kitchen peninsula, where the sink and hob are, and to a peculiar spiral staircase, an evolution of the classic helical staircase. It accompanies the living room with soft lines and a successful mix of steel and Fiemme wood. It is a perfect blend of fantasy, elegance and craftsmanship, without forgetting functional aspects. With its unmistakable play of colours, the oak is enhanced in all its uniqueness in every room and merges with contemporary elements.
