Art and applied art
Designed by arch. Paolo BaldessariDello scudo art Gallery, Verona, Italy
Founded in 1968, the “Galleria dello Scudo” is one of the historical exhibition galleries of the Italian scenery. It lodges exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, with a particular interest for the main Italian artists of the 20th century. It's placed in Verona, in a side street of the central via Mazzini.
In 2007 a makeover was required, because of both structural and aesthetic reasons.
They asked the architecture studio Baldessari e Baldessari of Rovereto. First of all they they rethought and reorganized the internal archive and the operative area; then they knocked down some partitions to create a new big room with a large window so that it could also host installations of contemporary art, which are usually characterized by big sculptures.
The Fiemme Tremila’s oak, slightly whitened, covers the previous parquet and its long boards offer a sense of continuity, permeating all the architectural steps between a room and the other.
