Being Reborn

When life hits hard, one can learn to love it even more, even at the risk of having to reimagine it. Paolo Berro was faced with this challenge: «My "new life" –explained – started on 2 May 1998 when, after a terrible car accident and after almost a year of hospital stay and rehabilitation, I went back home, in my new condition. I was paralysed from the shoulders down and had to completely reinvent myself, trying with all my might to find a new way to live». But his old home was the opposite of what he needed. There was only to demolish the old house and to build a new one. The project was entrusted to the architects Tommaso Gasparini and Marcello Pagnan. By mutual agreement, the project was focused on green building.
Maximum accessibility, high comfort and total absence of harmful agents in the indoor environment were required. This is another reason why a biocompatible wood by Fiemme Tremila was chosen for the 260-square-metre floor. Rotondo from the Boschi di Fiemme collection, pure beauty of a healthy natural oak, enriched by knots and enhanced by oiling. «It creates an elegant yet cosy environment; its most important quality is healthiness. Most of all, I love the wood aroma. It makes me feel like I'm in the woods because of its warmth,» explained Paolo.
Rich, plump, full: Rotondo is a natural oak with golden light enhanced by neutral oiling. Dazzling in its endless fair hues, with amber flames blazing from small brown knots, it perfectly harmonises with classic and modern elements.
