The warm natural character of Fiemme Tremila wood defines the continuous surface of a penthouse in a refined Milanese courtyard building, designed by Davide Fabio Colaci Studio.

Compact yet precious, this apartment—modest in size but crowned with a roof terrace—reveals a sophisticated architectural fabric: unexpected insights, custom details, cultured references and icons of both historic and contemporary design interlace throughout the space. The muted expressiveness of 1950s Milanese interiors is echoed in the careful pairing of noble surfaces with industrial materials.

生活的激情I

The owners envisioned a home that was orderly and rigorous, yet also flexible and versatile. Their aspirations were met through a clever use of unconventional devices. A circular structural bookcase, for instance, acts as both partition and pivot for the apartment. Or the staircase leading to the rooftop terrace, which never touches the slab: a raw-earth totem in deep clay tones, framed by a white railing drawn like a graphic grid—an airy, almost aviary-like structure through which air and light filter.

Balancing the clean, essential lines of the design and its furnishings—spanning from Le Corbusier’s LC15 table to Jean Prouvé’s Potence lamp to Giandomenico Belotti’s Spaghetti Chair—is the living, organic presence of Fiemme Tremila wood. The Dolcerivo oak, part of the Thermowood range within the Luci di Fiemme collection, meets the project’s dual requirements: chromatic elegance and advanced technical performance.

This light, knotty oak, where warmth emerges from a weave of taupe and hazelnut tones brushed with delicate pink nuances, creates cohesion between rooms. It mediates contrasts between reflection and transparency, natural light and sophisticated hues, soft contours and geometric cuts. The brushed finish enhances the wood’s harder veins, giving depth and tactile richness. The elongated planks (77 x 1850 mm)—a rare technical feature made possible by Fiemme Tremila’s artisanal precision and flexible production—amplify the sense of space and reinforce continuity across rooms and between the two levels of the penthouse.
Thanks to the Triplostrato® structure, the flooring guarantees stability, elasticity and long-lasting performance. The BioPlus® treatment ensures resistance to wear, easy maintenance, and the renowned health benefits of Fiemme Tremila floors, which actively improve indoor air quality.

Here, form, function and material converge to generate well-being—in every sense: personal, visual, tactile, and even olfactory.
