In Melide, nestled in a lush mountainside, a residential complex is reflected in Lake Lugano. It is a building with modern lines but an old heart. Its foundations stand where once there was the historic Villa Branca. For almost 120 years, this building has gifted those strolling along the lakefront with a fascinating mix of neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau styles. On the last of four floors, an elegant apartment aims to be evidence of a glorious past and projection of a future inspired by modernity, all by means of precise stylistic choices and meticulously thought-out details.
The material and furnishing choices have a unique and important goal: to recreate a reassuring yet never boring aesthetic harmony, portraying a timeless daily life through skillful contrasts and fusion. The modern furniture with essential colours and lines, stoneware, steel, and glass surfaces contrasts with the authentic warmth of the wood floor, highlighted by the chevron laying of the living area, a tribute to Villa Branca from the early 1900s.
On the brushed Dolcerivo boards, a warm Thermowood oak from the Luci di Fiemme collection draws shapes that become authentic aesthetic narratives, as its veins, shades, colours and lines play with natural light. A frame in Dolcerivo delineates living spaces, further embellishing a floor that truly is a communicative element and leads up to the sleeping space. The contrasts soften in the bedrooms, bathrooms and study as if to adapt to a slower pace. Dynamism fades, and the laying becomes a staggered pattern that guides the eye along the lines of the most up-to-date pieces of furniture.
