A total renovation, perfect metamorphosis under the banner of green building

Three years of planning and just as much of creation. After a significant commitment, the satisfaction of reaching the expected goal: a biocompatible and energy-saving villa in Leffe, Bergamo. Seven years ago, the owners demolished a four-story building from the 1970s. They gave up a considerable amount of cubic capacity. Still, they created a new, one-level residence with an ample space of 300 square metres, although the result was smaller than the old building. The demolition and reconstruction project, carried out by the architects Luigina Bianchi and Vittorio Cereda, was led by the aims of energy saving, living well-being, and environmental sustainability.

Ideas of living

The selected essence for this house was the knotty Re Bianco from the Boschi di Fiemme collection– Fiemme’s whitest oak, even and thick, delicate and bold at the same time. Throughout the house, from the change-laundry room to the bedrooms and three bathrooms, the light oak hues seem to silently interact with light coming from the big glass walls. This creates a unique vast space speaking the wood language.

Wood has been used on the floors and as cladding on the partition wall between the main bedroom and the walk-in wardrobe. A quiet feeling of lightness fills all the indoor areas, enhanced by the choice of neutral-coloured elements. For instance, the living room’s large white fabric corner sofa complements the two metal tables designed by Jean Nouvel. Similarly, the kitchen features a clever application of glass.
