In Carrara, there is a home whose present enhances its origins.

The building, initially designed as a small hydroelectric power plant, was later used as an artisanal steel workshop. It looks exactly as it did in the past, with the upper portion in exposed stone and the ground floor with arched openings and purple shades in compliance with fine arts constraints. It is a small gem from the 19th century. After crossing the threshold, step after step, you will discover a true treasure: the owners’ will was to preserve as much as possible the original charm of a place rich in tradition, incorporating it into a comfortable everyday life, that meets the needs and needs of a modern family.

Die Idee des Raumkonzept

In this entwining of past and present, materials alternate in contrast, triggering an original dialogue between matter and time. Weathering steel and bricks, wood and Calacatta Borghini marble, modern fabrics and old structures combine styles and eras, impressive and with a strong personality. The task of bringing warmth and cosiness to the house was entrusted to the enveloping colours of Fior di Rubino boards from the Fior di Fiemme collection. A variegated and brushed steamed oak with visible knots and grains that spreads the embrace of a reassuring past in every room of the house.

The unique hand-crafted boards with varying widths and lengths – to make the most of the precious raw material – accentuate the dynamism by creating lines and patterns with an extraordinary aesthetic impact. At the same time, the staggered laying works in synergy with light to define areas and rooms. The partition of spaces is further enhanced by the Scritto a mano finishing used both in the raised living area and the ceiling of the hallway leading to the master bedroom. This detail adds charm and bold character while maintaining aesthetic and colour harmony.
