Authentic wood can speak to the soul.

We are in Pavia, an apartment building with about 130 square metres of space dating back to the 1930s. Thick walls, stucco on ceilings, rooms over three metres high. It had a rigid partition, typical of that time, with a large dead-end corridor with a door for every room. An austerity that had to be broken. Without changing heights, decorations and the sleeping space with bedrooms, the hallway has been “eliminated”. The architect created an ideal environment for a mother and three children: a kitchen, snacker and living room combined, and the spaces were remodelled with small masonry work. Unique panelling was placed on the walls: unique, because it was also made with Tobià.

Ideas of living

Tobià oak from the collection Mani di Fiemme, solid and soft, raw and worn, full of the rural memories its name recalls, was used for all floors and claddings: boiserie, furniture and shelves. The owners have always loved the mountains and wanted to recreate the same well-being feeling one experiences in Trentino’s woods in their townhome.

The work of architect Elsy Bugada followed this choice.
Given the children’s needs and the flat’s city location, we have created perfect insulation, air conditioning, and air treatment systems. The whole project was focused on the need for healthiness. The use of Fiemme Tremila wood in every room, master bathroom and kitchen included, was fundamental.
