Reborn in Ancona
Designed by arch. Sergio RoccheggianiRestaurant "Il passetto", Ancona, Italy
A significant and careful restoration gives back a piece of history to its city.
The restaurant Il Passetto, a landmark and the first to serve Ancona’s typical cuisine, has been given a makeover to return to its former glory. With bold choices and respect for the city’s strong soul and character, which enhances its unique places, it was a rigorous, contemporary renovation far from the stereotypes of current fashion trends.
Little time and lots of goodwill. The challenge of reviving the city’s past magic while providing modern comfort was a success.
The floor – Bronzo essence, an oak with a brushing finish from the Boschi di Fiemme collection – was the focus point: its veins recall the sand after the last tide has rolled out of the beach, and the finishes enhance the tree’s beauty. Inside, you can feel at home; the floor almost suggests walking barefoot. Outside, you can hear the sea; inside, one wanders, almost hypnotised by the kitchen smells as on the deck of an old sailing ship.
