A historic restaurant renovated into a minimal home with a strong natural footprint.
In Camogli it is known as “la casa dei pizzi” (the lace house) because of the decor on its façade. It is a 1920s building overlooking the harbour and the old village palaces. Until a few years ago, it was a restaurant; the new owner and the change of use for residential purposes have led to a total renovation, completely transforming spaces and volumes.

With its spectacular window wall, the restaurant’s main room has been transformed into a living area, showcasing the breathtaking view of Camogli as a permanent space decoration. The window wall faces southeast, with a spectacular view going from Portofino Mount to the French coast, visible on a clear day.
It faces the sea and the village. The armchairs are a replica of a 1920s design, contemporary with the building, providing a front-row seat to this show.
Every detail shows the passion and taste of the designer, who also owns the building. For instance, the walls coated with a very thin – 2 millimetres – slab of natural stone, or the vintage furniture –
family memorabilia – stand out in the contemporary minimalism of the house.
The floor is the soul of this home. It is entirely made from wood, as a ship’s deck overlooking the Ligurian Sea. The Fior di Terra teak, knot-free with brushed finishing, has a parallel staggered pattern, visually enlarging the width of the already vast space.
The same wood was also used for the steps linking the different areas of the house. This is a typical feature of Ligurian buildings erected against the steep mountain rising from the sea.
