The building, featuring spacious areas and an impressive height – reaching 7 meters at its tallest point after the slab recovery – was chosen to meet the owners’ requirement for cohousing. It has undergone significant renovation work to accommodate this need. Two floors were designed to offer both shared spaces for social moments and private areas, with one designated for each of the two families. This functional partition was made possible by preserving the original spine wall. However, needs changed during construction, and the entire building was ultimately designed for the couple who currently owns it.
Even with the partitions already in place, it was still possible to work almost entirely on finishings. The project grew in character thanks to the constant and deep dialogue between the architect, Alessia Silvestrelli, and the owners. They intended to create not just a home but a tangible expression of themselves. The central theme of this tale is purple, which has been the key element of the project from the very beginning, with every choice revolving around it. The artist Marta Mancini designed objects, fabrics, and canvases that create aesthetic and chromatic continuity between the rooms, like punctuation marks. The main element creating uniformity and naturally guiding the viewer’s eye is Fiemme Tremila wood floor, Nocciolieve Thermowood oak from Luci di Fiemme, stretching across the entire surface of the house.
Its pinkish hues and warm hazelnut with dusty pink nuances perfectly match the colour palette strongly and incisively characterising this house’s style. The wide Nocciolieve boards elegantly cover the floor in a staggered pattern and extend up the walls, harmonizing with recesses and vertical surfaces. They take shape into the geometry of the stairs and add a three-dimensional quality to the custom handmade furniture, such as the desk in the office area that faces the living room.
